The country direction surprises me, didn't even know about that. What's odd about all the late-coming Phoenix fandom is that they haven't changed their style even a little from their first record, in 2000. They're professional, anodyne, and distant--I wouldn't say the Eagles are a stretch at all. Oh, the Jonas track (at least what I saw on the Grammy thing) is awful. And it's clearly not alt-rock fans who are putting the song into the charts; it's pop fans who heard it on the TV ad (forget which one) that uses it.
